Session 4: Outside (Walks, Cold Dips, and the Weather)

How this session works

Rhythm: Digital pre-work → Live session → Light homework or social application

This is designed to feel low pressure. Small steps count.

Session aim: Use Welsh words for kit and weather, and connect language to real outdoor life.

How we’ll do this: A simple kit-focused video, practical words, and gentle sharing in the group.

What we’ll cover: Everyday kit items and basic weather words.

Outcome (plain English): You can recognise and use a few Welsh words in real settings without pressure.

How to use this page: Use Previous and Next to move through the steps. If your energy is low, do Get Ready only.

Step 1: Get Ready

Watch: the “Get Your Kit Ready” video (shared by your facilitator).

Try these words once:

  • Tywel (towel)
  • Esgidiau (shoes)
  • Dillad (clothes)
  • Oer (cold)
  • Glaw (rain)

If you have a bit more time: pick one word and use it in a short sentence (even privately).

Step 2: Live session

  • Outdoor words in context.
  • Low pressure group practice (listening still counts).
  • Optional sharing: kit, weather, and what helps you get outside.

Step 3: After the session

Social: Share one kit word or a photo in WhatsApp, or react to someone else’s post.

Digital: Notice and name one item or weather word in Welsh during the week.

Reassurance

There is no “right amount” to do. One word in the wild is a win.

  • Notice Welsh words used outdoors (signs, posters, leaflets).
